Mentorship & Leadership Conversations

Learn From Experience. Ask Better Questions. Gain Perspective.

Leadership development becomes richer when people have access to those who have already carried responsibility, built organisations, made difficult decisions and learned through experience. HIL creates the platforms where those connections happen.

Why It Matters

Some Lessons Are Only Learned From Those Who Lived Them

Books explain leadership. Experienced leaders reveal what it actually costs, demands and rewards.

The most valuable leadership insights are often not written anywhere. They live in the experience of people who have hired and fired, built and failed, carried criticism and kept going. When emerging leaders gain access to that experience, they learn faster, avoid avoidable mistakes and see what is possible for their own lives.

HIL’s mentorship and conversation platforms give participants the opportunity to ask questions, challenge assumptions, expand their thinking, build relationships and learn from leadership as it is actually lived.

Our Platforms

Four Ways We Connect Leaders

01

Mentorship Circles

Small groups of emerging leaders meet regularly with an experienced mentor to discuss real challenges, set goals and hold one another accountable. Circles are the heart of HIL’s continuing development for programme participants.

02

HIL Leadership Conversations

A conversation series in which respected leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals speak candidly about decisions, setbacks, character and the realities of responsibility — followed by open questions from participants.

03

Ask a Leader Sessions

Focused question-and-answer sessions for students and young professionals on careers, purpose, entrepreneurship and personal growth.

04

Professional Mentoring

Structured mentoring relationships for young professionals and new managers, matched with experienced leaders for a defined period of development.

Become a Mentor

Your Experience Could Shape Someone’s Future

If you have carried leadership responsibility — in business, the professions, public service, ministry or community life — and want to invest in the next generation, we would be glad to hear from you.

HIL mentors commit a few hours each month, receive orientation in the HIL Model and our safeguarding standards, and are supported by the Institute throughout.

Our Mentoring Standards

  • Mentoring of under-18s takes place in group or supervised settings only.
  • All mentors complete safeguarding orientation before engaging with participants.
  • Communication with young people goes through HIL-approved channels.
  • Mentors uphold the HIL Code of Conduct at all times.
  • Concerns are reported promptly under our Safeguarding procedures.
